An emblematic Paris look made iconic by Catherine Deneuve, Loulou de la Falaise and Betty Catroux, the women’s tuxedo was created by Yves Saint Laurent in 1966. Famously seen through the lens of Helmut Newton in 1975, the long jacket, straight-leg pants, and dress shirt is now being revisited by Hedi Slimane, current creative director of the French fashion house. To celebrate this heritage, the Paris designer has created an atelier dedicated to tailoring at the Saint Laurent studios to design and create the tuxedo lines for the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, as well his permanent collections. The designer has also shot Smoking, a series of black and white photographs featuring Abbey Lee Kershaw, to showcase the iconic black suit.via vogue.fr
